flerovium
Flerovium is a synthetic element with the chemical symbol Fl and atomic number 114. It was first created in 1998 by a team of Russian and American scientists at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia. Flerovium is classified as a post-transition metal and is part of the carbon group in the periodic table.
Due to its instability, flerovium has no significant commercial applications and is produced in very small amounts. Its most stable isotope, Fl-289, has a half-life of about 2.6 milliseconds, making it challenging to study. Research on flerovium helps scientists understand the properties of superheavy elements and the limits of the periodic table.
