Livermorium
Livermorium is a synthetic element with the chemical symbol Lv and atomic number 116. It was first created in 2000 by a team of Russian and American scientists at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia. Livermorium is classified as a post-transition metal and is part of the periodic table group known as the chalcogens, which includes elements like oxygen and sulfur.
Due to its instability, Livermorium has no significant commercial applications and is produced in very small amounts. Its most stable isotope, Lv-293, has a half-life of about 60 milliseconds, making it challenging to study. Research on Livermorium helps scientists understand the properties of superheavy elements and the limits of the periodic table.
