fern flowers
Fern flowers do not exist in the traditional sense, as ferns are non-flowering plants. Instead of producing flowers and seeds like flowering plants, ferns reproduce through spores. These spores are typically found on the undersides of their leaves, called fronds, and are released into the environment to grow into new ferns.
Ferns belong to the group of plants known as pteridophytes. They have a unique life cycle that includes two stages: the sporophyte, which is the leafy plant we see, and the gametophyte, a small, heart-shaped structure that produces gametes. This fascinating reproductive process distinguishes ferns from flowering plants.
