cubic boron nitride
Cubic boron nitride (c-BN) is a synthetic material that resembles diamond in structure and properties. It is composed of boron and nitrogen atoms arranged in a cubic lattice, making it one of the hardest known materials. Due to its hardness, c-BN is widely used in industrial applications, particularly for cutting tools and abrasives.
Unlike diamond, c-BN is chemically stable at high temperatures and does not react with iron and steel. This makes it an ideal choice for machining ferrous materials. Additionally, c-BN is used in electronics and optics due to its excellent thermal conductivity and electrical insulating properties.
