condors
Condors are large birds known for their impressive wingspans, which can reach up to 10 feet. They belong to the family Cathartidae and are primarily found in mountainous regions of North America and South America. These birds are scavengers, feeding mainly on carrion, which helps keep ecosystems clean.
There are two main species of condors: the California condor and the Andean condor. The California condor is critically endangered, with conservation efforts in place to protect its population. In contrast, the Andean condor is more widespread and is often seen soaring over the Andes mountains, symbolizing freedom and strength in many cultures.
