The colugo, also known as the flying lemur, is a unique mammal found in the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. Despite its name, it is not a lemur but belongs to its own order called Dermoptera. Colugos are known for their remarkable gliding ability, thanks to a large membrane of skin that stretches from their neck to the tips of their fingers, toes, and tail.
These nocturnal creatures primarily feed on leaves, fruits, and flowers. Colugos have large eyes adapted for night vision and are excellent climbers, spending most of their time in trees. Their ability to glide helps them move between trees to find food and evade predators, making them well-suited for their forest habitat.
