chirag (Lamp)
A chirag is a traditional lamp commonly used in South Asian cultures, particularly in India and Pakistan. It is often made from clay, metal, or glass and is designed to hold oil or ghee, with a wick that is lit to produce light. Chirags are frequently used in religious ceremonies, festivals, and daily rituals to symbolize purity and the dispelling of darkness.
In many households, chirags are lit during special occasions like Diwali, the festival of lights, to invite prosperity and good fortune. They can also be found in temples and during spiritual gatherings, serving as a reminder of the importance of light in both a physical and metaphorical sense.
