chūgakkō
"Chūgakkō" (中学校) is the Japanese term for "junior high school," which typically serves students aged 12 to 15. It is the stage of education that follows elementary school and precedes high school. In Japan, chūgakkō usually lasts for three years, and students study a variety of subjects, including mathematics, science, and social studies.
In chūgakkō, students often participate in extracurricular activities, such as sports and cultural clubs, which help them develop social skills and teamwork. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for the next level of education, which is kōkō (高等学校), or high school.
