bulbospongiosus
The bulbospongiosus is a muscle located in the pelvic region of both males and females. In males, it surrounds the base of the penis and helps in the expulsion of urine and semen. In females, it encases the vagina and contributes to the contraction during sexual arousal and childbirth.
This muscle plays a role in the overall function of the urogenital diaphragm, which supports the pelvic organs. It is also involved in maintaining the rigidity of the erectile tissue during sexual activity, enhancing sexual pleasure and function in both sexes.
