aimags
Aimags are administrative divisions in Mongolia, similar to provinces or regions in other countries. There are 21 aimags in Mongolia, each with its own local government and administrative responsibilities. Aimags are further divided into smaller units called soum, which are akin to districts.
Each aimag has a unique cultural and geographical identity, often reflecting the diverse landscapes of Mongolia, from vast steppes to mountainous areas. The capital of each aimag serves as the administrative center, where local officials manage resources, education, and infrastructure for the communities within their jurisdiction.
