Ziggurat of Chogha Zanbil
The Ziggurat of Chogha Zanbil is an ancient ziggurat located in present-day Iran. Built around 1250 BCE by the Elamite king Untash-Napirisha, it served as a religious center dedicated to the god Inshushinak. The structure is made of mud bricks and stands approximately 25 meters tall, showcasing the architectural style of the Elamite civilization.
This ziggurat is one of the best-preserved examples of its kind and is part of a larger complex that includes temples and other structures. It was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979, highlighting its historical and cultural significance.
