Zersetzung
Zersetzung is a term used to describe a psychological warfare tactic employed by the Stasi, the secret police of the former East Germany. It aimed to undermine and destabilize individuals perceived as threats to the state, particularly dissidents and activists. This method involved harassment, intimidation, and manipulation to create a sense of paranoia and isolation.
The goal of Zersetzung was to disrupt the target's personal and professional life, making them feel powerless and alienated. Tactics included spreading rumors, infiltrating social circles, and using surveillance to instill fear. Ultimately, it sought to suppress dissent and maintain control over the population.
