Zayyanids
The Zayyanids were a Berber dynasty that ruled the region of Tlemcen in present-day Algeria from the 13th to the 16th centuries. They were known for their contributions to culture, architecture, and trade, establishing Tlemcen as a significant center of commerce and learning in North Africa.
The Zayyanids emerged after the decline of the Almohad dynasty and were notable for their resistance against external powers, including the Ottoman Empire. Their reign ended when the Spanish forces captured Tlemcen in 1556, marking the decline of their influence in the region.
