Zagros
The Zagros Mountains are a major mountain range in western Iran, extending approximately 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) from the northern part of the country to the southern region. This range is known for its rugged terrain, diverse ecosystems, and rich biodiversity, making it an important area for both wildlife and human habitation.
The Zagros region is also significant for its geological features, including limestone and sandstone formations. It plays a crucial role in the climate of the surrounding areas, influencing rainfall patterns and serving as a natural barrier. The mountains are home to various ethnic groups, including the Kurdish people, who have lived in the region for centuries.
