Young Turk
The term "Young Turk" originally referred to members of a reformist political movement in the late 19th and early 20th centuries within the Ottoman Empire. This group sought to modernize the empire and promote constitutional governance, advocating for national unity and civil rights. Their efforts culminated in the Young Turk Revolution of 1908, which restored the constitution and established a parliamentary system.
Over time, "Young Turk" has also come to describe any young, progressive individual or group advocating for change within an established system. This broader usage highlights the desire for reform and innovation, often in political or social contexts.
