Yellow Ticket
The "Yellow Ticket" was a special permit issued in the early 20th century in Russia that allowed women to work in certain professions, particularly in the sex industry. This ticket was introduced to regulate and control prostitution, providing women with legal status and some protection under the law.
Women who obtained a Yellow Ticket had to undergo regular health checks and pay a fee. While it aimed to improve conditions for sex workers, it also stigmatized them, as it marked them as part of a regulated system. The Yellow Ticket system was eventually abolished, reflecting changing attitudes towards prostitution and women's rights.
