Yang Liwei
Yang Liwei is a Chinese astronaut and the first person from China to travel into space. He flew aboard the Shenzhou 5 spacecraft on October 15, 2003, marking a significant achievement for the China National Space Administration (CNSA). During his mission, he orbited the Earth 14 times and spent about 21 hours in space.
Born on June 21, 1965, in Liaoning, Yang Liwei was a pilot in the People's Liberation Army Air Force before becoming an astronaut. His successful flight made him a national hero in China and inspired many in the field of space exploration.
