YBA(Young British Artists)
The Young British Artists (YBA) is a group of contemporary artists who emerged in the late 1980s and gained prominence in the 1990s. They are known for their innovative and often provocative works that challenge traditional art forms. The group includes notable figures such as Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, and Sarah Lucas, who often use unconventional materials and themes in their art.
YBAs are recognized for their role in the Britart movement, which emphasized a do-it-yourself approach and a focus on the art market. Their exhibitions, particularly the 1997 Sensation show at the Royal Academy of Arts, brought significant attention to contemporary British art and helped redefine the art scene in the UK.
