World War I Recruitment
During World War I, many countries faced a shortage of soldiers to fight in the conflict. To address this, governments launched recruitment campaigns to encourage men to enlist in the military. Posters, speeches, and propaganda were widely used to inspire patriotism and a sense of duty among citizens.
In addition to voluntary enlistment, some nations implemented conscription, or mandatory military service, to ensure they had enough troops. This approach was particularly evident in countries like Britain and Germany, where laws were enacted to draft eligible men into the armed forces, significantly increasing the number of soldiers available for combat.
