World Humanitarian Day
World Humanitarian Day is observed annually on August 19 to honor humanitarian workers who risk their lives to help others in crisis. The day also aims to raise awareness about the ongoing humanitarian needs around the world and the importance of supporting those affected by conflicts, disasters, and other emergencies.
Established by the United Nations in 2008, World Humanitarian Day commemorates the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the UN headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, which killed 22 people, including the UN's top envoy. The day encourages individuals and organizations to take action and advocate for humanitarian efforts globally.
