William de la Pole
William de la Pole was a prominent English nobleman and politician during the 15th century. Born around 1396, he became the 1st Duke of Suffolk and was a key figure in the Wars of the Roses, a series of civil wars for control of the English throne. He served as a loyal supporter of the Lancastrian cause and held various important positions, including Lord High Admiral.
De la Pole's political career was marked by his involvement in military campaigns and governance. However, his fortunes changed after the Battle of Towton in 1461, leading to his exile. He was later executed in 1450, reflecting the turbulent nature of his time.
