William Landsborough
William Landsborough was a Scottish explorer born in 1825. He is best known for his expeditions in Australia during the 19th century, where he explored vast and uncharted territories. Landsborough played a significant role in mapping parts of Queensland and Victoria, contributing to the understanding of the Australian landscape.
In 1861, he led a notable expedition to find the lost explorer Robert O'Hara Burke and his party. Although he did not find them, Landsborough's journey provided valuable information about the region. He was later recognized for his contributions to exploration and was awarded a gold medal by the Royal Geographical Society.
