William Augustus
William Augustus, known as the Duke of Cumberland, was born on April 15, 1721. He was the second son of King George II of Great Britain and Caroline of Ansbach. The Duke is best remembered for his role in the Battle of Culloden in 1746, where he led British forces against the Jacobite uprising.
As a military leader, William Augustus was known for his strict discipline and organizational skills. His victory at Culloden marked the end of the Jacobite rebellion, solidifying the British government's control over Scotland. He later served as a commander in various military campaigns throughout Europe.
