Wilhelm von Kaulbach
Wilhelm von Kaulbach was a German painter born on December 15, 1805, in Munich. He is best known for his large historical and allegorical paintings, which often depicted themes from literature and mythology. His work was characterized by its detailed composition and vibrant colors, making him a prominent figure in the Romantic art movement.
Kaulbach studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and later became a professor there. He gained recognition for his murals, including those in the New Town Hall of Munich. His influence extended to his students, many of whom became notable artists in their own right. Kaulbach passed away on April 7, 1874.
