The white rhino is one of the largest species of rhinoceros, native to southern Africa. It has a broad mouth adapted for grazing on grasses and can weigh up to 2,300 kilograms (5,000 pounds). There are two subspecies: the southern white rhino and the critically endangered northern white rhino. White rhinos are social animals, often found in groups called crashes. They have a thick, protective skin and can run at speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour (25 miles per hour). Conservation efforts are crucial to protect them from poaching and habitat loss.
