White Army
The "White Army" refers to a collection of anti-Bolshevik forces that emerged during the Russian Civil War (1917-1922). These groups were primarily composed of monarchists, conservatives, and supporters of the Russian Empire, who opposed the Bolshevik government led by Vladimir Lenin. The White Army sought to restore the old regime and eliminate communist influence in Russia.
The White Army was not a unified force; it consisted of various factions with differing goals and ideologies. Key leaders included General Anton Denikin and Admiral Alexander Kolchak. Despite initial successes, the White Army ultimately faced defeat against the Red Army, leading to the establishment of the Soviet Union.
