Western Zhou Dynasty
The Western Zhou Dynasty (c. 1046–771 BCE) was an ancient Chinese dynasty that followed the Shang Dynasty. It is known for establishing the feudal system and promoting the concept of the Mandate of Heaven, which justified the ruler's authority. The dynasty's capital was located at Zhouyuan, in present-day Shaanxi province.
During the Western Zhou period, significant advancements were made in agriculture, bronze casting, and writing. The dynasty is also recognized for its cultural achievements, including the development of Chinese philosophy and the compilation of early texts. The Western Zhou eventually fell due to internal strife and invasions, leading to the rise of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty.
