Western Australian Government Railways
The Western Australian Government Railways (WAGR) was established in 1890 to provide rail transport services across the state of Western Australia. It played a crucial role in the development of the region by connecting remote areas to major cities, facilitating trade and travel. WAGR operated various passenger and freight services, contributing to the economic growth of the state.
In 2003, WAGR was restructured and its operations were divided into different entities. The passenger services were taken over by Transwa, while freight operations were managed by Brookfield Rail. Today, the legacy of WAGR continues to influence the rail network in Western Australia.
