Wenceslaus I
Wenceslaus I, also known as Saint Wenceslaus, was a Duke of Bohemia who ruled in the early 10th century. He is remembered for his efforts to promote Christianity in the region and for his role in unifying the Czech lands. His reign was marked by conflicts with his brother, Boleslaus, who opposed his Christian policies.
Wenceslaus was born around 907 and became Duke after his father's death. He was assassinated in 935, and his legacy grew over time, leading to his canonization as a saint. Today, he is celebrated as the patron saint of the Czech Republic, and his feast day is observed on September 28.
