Saint Wenceslaus
Saint Wenceslaus, also known as Wenceslaus I, was a Duke of Bohemia who lived in the 10th century. He is celebrated for his efforts to promote Christianity in the region and is considered a patron saint of the Czech Republic. His reign was marked by conflicts with pagan tribes and internal family struggles.
Wenceslaus was murdered in 935 AD, likely by his brother Boleslaus I, which led to his veneration as a martyr. He is often depicted in art wearing royal attire and holding a banner. His feast day is celebrated on September 28, and he is remembered for his commitment to faith and justice.
