Wayuu people
The Wayuu people are an indigenous group primarily located in the Guajira Peninsula of northern Colombia and northwestern Venezuela. They are known for their rich cultural traditions, including vibrant textiles and intricate handicrafts. The Wayuu speak the Wayuunaiki language and have a matrilineal social structure, where lineage and inheritance are traced through women.
Traditionally, the Wayuu are pastoralists and engage in goat herding, fishing, and agriculture. Their society is organized into clans, each with its own customs and beliefs. The Wayuu also celebrate various festivals that reflect their spiritual connection to nature and their ancestors.
