Wayuu People
The Wayuu people are an indigenous group primarily located in the Guajira Peninsula of northern Colombia and northwestern Venezuela. They are known for their rich cultural traditions, including vibrant textiles and intricate handicrafts. The Wayuu speak the Wayuunaiki language and have a matrilineal social structure, where lineage and inheritance are traced through women.
Traditionally, the Wayuu engage in pastoralism, raising goats and other livestock, while also practicing agriculture. Their society is organized into clans, each with its own customs and responsibilities. The Wayuu are also known for their unique spiritual beliefs, which are deeply connected to their natural environment and ancestral heritage.
