Wayuu
The Wayuu are an indigenous people primarily located in the Guajira region of northern Colombia and northwestern Venezuela. They are known for their rich cultural heritage, including traditional crafts, music, and vibrant clothing. The Wayuu community is organized into clans, each with its own customs and social structures.
The Wayuu speak the Wayuunaiki language, which is part of the Arawakan language family. Their economy is largely based on livestock herding, agriculture, and artisanal crafts, particularly weaving. The Wayuu are also recognized for their unique matrilineal society, where lineage and inheritance are traced through women.
