Watergate hearings
The Watergate hearings were a series of investigations conducted by the United States Congress in the early 1970s. They aimed to uncover the truth behind the Watergate scandal, which involved a break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters and subsequent cover-up efforts by members of the Nixon administration. The hearings were televised, drawing significant public attention and revealing serious abuses of power.
The hearings began in 1973 and featured testimony from key figures, including John Dean, a former White House counsel. As evidence emerged, it became clear that President Richard Nixon had attempted to obstruct justice. Ultimately, the hearings contributed to Nixon's resignation in 1974.
