Water Snakes
Water snakes are non-venomous reptiles found in various freshwater habitats, including rivers, lakes, and swamps. They belong to the family Colubridae and are known for their excellent swimming abilities. These snakes primarily feed on fish, amphibians, and small invertebrates, using their keen eyesight to hunt.
There are several species of water snakes, such as the Northern Water Snake and the Common Water Snake. They can be identified by their elongated bodies and distinctive patterns, which often help them blend into their surroundings. Water snakes are generally shy and prefer to escape rather than confront potential threats.
