Water Moccasin
The Water Moccasin, also known as the Cottonmouth, is a venomous snake found primarily in the southeastern United States. It typically inhabits wetlands, swamps, and marshes, where it can be seen swimming or basking on logs. This snake is recognizable by its thick body, dark coloration, and distinctive white mouth, which it displays when threatened.
Water Moccasins are known for their aggressive behavior when cornered. They primarily feed on fish, amphibians, and small mammals. While their venom can be dangerous, bites to humans are relatively rare, and these snakes often prefer to avoid confrontation when possible.
