Warmiwañusca
Warmiwañusca, also known as "Dead Woman's Pass," is a high mountain pass located in the Andes of Peru. It is part of the famous Inca Trail leading to Machu Picchu and stands at an elevation of approximately 4,215 meters (13,828 feet). The pass is a popular trekking destination, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.
The name "Warmiwañusca" comes from the Quechua language, meaning "dead woman." This name is believed to be derived from the shape of the mountain, which resembles a woman lying down. Hikers often stop at this pass to acclimatize to the altitude before continuing their journey along the trail.
