Wappapello Dam
Wappapello Dam is a large earthen dam located on the St. Francis River in Wayne County, Missouri. Completed in 1941, it was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to provide flood control, water supply, and recreational opportunities in the region.
The dam creates Wappapello Lake, which spans approximately 3,100 acres and offers various activities such as fishing, boating, and camping. The surrounding area is part of the Wappapello Lake State Park, providing visitors with scenic views and outdoor experiences.
