Lake Wappapello
Lake Wappapello is a man-made reservoir located in southeastern Missouri, created by the construction of the Wappapello Dam on the St. Francis River. The lake covers approximately 3,100 acres and offers a variety of recreational activities, including fishing, boating, and swimming. It is a popular destination for both locals and tourists.
The lake is surrounded by the Mark Twain National Forest, providing scenic views and opportunities for hiking and wildlife observation. Established in the 1940s, Lake Wappapello serves not only as a recreational area but also plays a role in flood control and water management for the region.
