Wadiyar Dynasty
The Wadiyar Dynasty was a royal family that ruled the region of Mysore in southern India from the late 14th century until the mid-20th century. They are known for their contributions to art, culture, and architecture, particularly during the reign of Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV, who promoted education and public welfare.
The dynasty's rule was interrupted by the British in the 18th century, but they were restored to power in 1881 as a nominal ruler under British suzerainty. The Wadiyars played a significant role in the development of Mysore and left a lasting legacy, including the famous Mysore Palace.
