Wadi Al-Jarf
Wadi Al-Jarf is an ancient archaeological site located on the Red Sea coast of Egypt. It is believed to be one of the oldest known ports, dating back to the Fourth Dynasty of the Old Kingdom around 4,500 years ago. The site features a series of ancient stone structures and inscriptions that provide insights into maritime trade and construction techniques of the time.
Excavations at Wadi Al-Jarf have uncovered artifacts such as pottery, tools, and remnants of ships, indicating its significance in trade routes. The site is particularly notable for its connection to the construction of the Great Pyramid of Giza, as it is thought to have been a supply point for transporting limestone and other materials.
