Voodooists
Voodooists are practitioners of Voodoo, a spiritual and religious tradition that originated in West Africa and developed in the Americas, particularly in Haiti. This belief system combines elements of African spirituality, Catholicism, and indigenous practices. Voodooists often engage in rituals, ceremonies, and the use of symbols to connect with spirits, known as Loa, who guide and protect them.
In Voodoo, community and family play significant roles, with practitioners often gathering for celebrations and rituals. Voodooists may also seek the help of a Houngan (male priest) or Mambo (female priestess) for guidance and healing. Misunderstandings about Voodoo often stem from its portrayal in popular culture, which can misrepresent its true nature.
