Volcán Barú
Volcán Barú is the highest peak in Panama, standing at 3,474 meters (11,398 feet) above sea level. It is an active stratovolcano located in the western part of the country, within the Volcán Barú National Park. The volcano last erupted in 1671, and today, it is a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts.
The summit of Volcán Barú offers stunning panoramic views, allowing visitors to see both the Caribbean Sea and the Pacific Ocean on clear days. The surrounding park is home to diverse flora and fauna, making it an important ecological area. Hiking to the summit typically takes several hours and is best done early in the morning.
