Vision 2020
"Vision 2020" was a global initiative launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2013 aimed at eliminating avoidable blindness. The program focused on improving eye health services, increasing access to eye care, and addressing the leading causes of blindness, such as cataracts, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy.
The initiative encouraged countries to develop their own strategies to enhance eye care systems and promote awareness about eye health. By 2020, the goal was to ensure that everyone had access to necessary eye care services, ultimately reducing the number of people suffering from visual impairment worldwide.
