Visceral Pain
Visceral pain is a type of discomfort that originates from the internal organs, such as the stomach, intestines, or heart. It often feels deep, aching, or cramping and can be difficult to pinpoint. This pain is usually caused by conditions like inflammation, infection, or obstruction in the organs.
Unlike somatic pain, which comes from the skin, muscles, or joints, visceral pain is often referred to other areas of the body. For example, pain from the gallbladder may be felt in the right shoulder. Understanding visceral pain is important for diagnosing and treating underlying health issues effectively.
