Viral conjunctivitis
Viral conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye, is an inflammation of the conjunctiva caused by a virus. It often results from infections like the common cold or can spread through contact with contaminated surfaces. Symptoms include redness, itching, and watery discharge from the eye.
This condition is highly contagious and can affect one or both eyes. While it usually resolves on its own within one to two weeks, maintaining good hygiene, such as frequent handwashing and avoiding touching the eyes, can help prevent its spread. Over-the-counter treatments may alleviate discomfort but do not cure the viral infection.
