Vinča sites
The Vinča sites are a group of archaeological locations in southeastern Europe, primarily in Serbia. They date back to the Neolithic period, around 5700 to 4500 BCE. These sites are known for their advanced prehistoric culture, which included early forms of agriculture, pottery, and metallurgy. The most famous site is Vinča-Belo Brdo, located near the Danube River.
Excavations at the Vinča sites have revealed a wealth of artifacts, including figurines, tools, and decorative pottery. The findings suggest that the Vinča culture had a complex social structure and engaged in trade with neighboring regions. This makes the Vinča sites significant for understanding early European civilizations.
