Vietnamese Royalty
Vietnamese royalty refers to the ruling families and dynasties that governed Vietnam throughout its history. The most notable dynasties include the Ly, Tran, and Nguyen dynasties, each contributing to the cultural and political landscape of the nation. These royal families often resided in grand palaces and were responsible for significant developments in art, literature, and architecture.
The last ruling dynasty, the Nguyen Dynasty, lasted from 1802 to 1945. During this period, the emperor held considerable power, overseeing the administration and military. However, the monarchy was abolished in 1945 after the August Revolution, leading to the establishment of a republic in Vietnam.
