Vidya Sagar
Vidya Sagar was a prominent 19th-century Indian scholar, educator, and social reformer. Born on September 26, 1820, in West Bengal, he played a crucial role in promoting modern education and women's rights in India. He is best known for his efforts to improve the status of women through education and his advocacy for the abolition of practices like Sati.
He founded the Bengal Social Reform Association and was instrumental in establishing several schools and colleges. Vidya Sagar's contributions to the Bengali language and literature are also significant, as he worked to simplify and modernize the language, making it more accessible to the masses.
