Victory Ships
Victory Ships were a class of cargo ships built during World War II to replace the earlier Liberty Ships. Designed for speed and efficiency, they were constructed using standardized parts, allowing for quicker assembly. These vessels played a crucial role in transporting troops and supplies across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
The first Victory Ship was launched in 1944, and a total of 531 were built by the end of the war. They were named after significant battles and events, reflecting the wartime spirit. After the war, many Victory Ships were repurposed for commercial use, contributing to post-war economic recovery.
